Beathut

Tag4 were approached by Jonny Reggae, the head honcho of Brighton based record label Catskills, with an interesting and challenging concept.

The project brief for the Beathut website was to develop a successful digital distribution strategy (MP3 Downloads) and online delivery platform from a website portal. Tag4´s expertise in developing open source code and technologies enabled delivery of a solution at a much lower cost than if the code had been developed from scratch. The finished result enabled Catskills and its collective of independent record labels to sell releases and individual tracks as digital downloads directly from the Beathut website.

The website, launched at the beginning of 2005 has more than satisfied our client and his brief, as it has been successful in creating a viable, lucrative and low maintenance revenue stream for the organisation and its partners.

It has enabled Tag4 to bring together the team´s learned experience in delivery of E-commerce solutions, with that of their expertise in development of open-source code; the result is Beathut.

Tag4 project coordination included:
  • Server management and technical coordination with our broadband partner Moving Edge.

  • Website design.

  • Data and audio encoding strategy for Beathut.

  • Build and development of ecommerce & digital download website.

  • Integration of secure transactions with HSBC.

  • Successful launch and ongoing development, including MCPS reporting tool.

The website has more than proved its success and represents some of the finest independent labels, including Catskills, Grand Central, Ninja Tune, Cookshop, and Against the Grain.
